Now, more than ever, we need an uplifting show that celebrates the American spirit. We begin our production with “An Outdoor Overture.” It is challenging and full of energy, with a wonderful contrasting middle section. “The Promise of Living” contains great recognizable moments encompassing everything from exquisite tenderness to raging power. Our show ends with “American Barndance” adapted from Richard L. Saucedo’s popular work for symphonic band. Cleverly spiced with a hoedown flavor in a mini-overture format of fast-slow-fast, this is an impressive slice of Americana for the field.
